If you read any of the books in Kim Stanley Robinson's Science in the Capital series, you'll see regular references to Emerson and Thoreau's writing on emersonfortheday.com. After checking out that site myself, I was so impressed that I was inspired to build a companion "Thoreau for the Day" site.
Following the basic plan of the Emerson site, writings by Henry David Thoreau were downloaded from the Project Gutenberg site and broken into discreet paragraphs. The idea is that paragraphs generally comprise a discrete thought, so the hope is that they could provide the basis for some interesting daily reading. However, if you look at the bottom of this page, you can read any of the essays from start to finish.
